Cartier Tank Chronograph Monopoussoir Replica Watch On Sale

Like everyone who regularly attends the SIHH and Baselworld watch fairs, certain watches from certain years stand out in my memory as having been especially covetable from the moment they were unveiled. For me, one such piece was the delectable Tank monopusher chronograph from 2008, a time when Cartier was still offering its limited-edition, vintage-inspired Collection Privée pieces before it went full steam ahead with its own manufacture. This Cartier Tank Chronograph Monopoussoir replica watch was inspired by a 1935 piece, only slightly larger than the original at 34mm by 42mm.

As I recall, the hand-wound watch was available in yellow, pink or white gold, with 100 examples being made in each – and the pink gold version cost around £8,000. In white gold it was probably a little more, but still a long way short of what this example fetched at Phillips. Admittedly it was in pristine condition and was number 100 of its edition. Even so, it has made me wish I could turn back time and return to SIHH 2008, this time with cheque book in hand.
